Mutualism between Tortoises and Vegetation
The principle of mutualism between tortoises and vegetation is as follows:
Tortoises are one of the oldest reptiles in the world and are ectothermic animals, meaning they rely on external sources to regulate their body temperature. Unlike humans, tortoises do not have an internal thermoregulation system, so their body temperature varies with the environment. The excrement of tortoises contains ammonia (NH3), which is a toxic chemical compound. Through chemical processes, ammonia is converted into nitrite (NO2) and then further transformed into nitrogen fertilizer (NO3). Nitrogen fertilizer serves as a nutrient for plants, enabling them to absorb and grow.
